Buddy System

The International Relations office has a “buddy system” where the international students are paired with a Ugandan student who acts as your guide as you settle in. Your buddy will help you; tour the University, Kampala City, inform you about the events and social activities happening with in and outside the University and much more. Your buddy will be somebody well known to our office and the University and can, therefore, be trusted.

Accommodation

Accommodation for international students is organized by the university in agreement with guest partner institutions. The university authority is informed in advance by partner institutions before students commence their studies at Kyambogo. Accommodation for International students is normally organized in spacious, well-furnished guest houses on campus.

The international office also, occasionally, facilitates accommodation in privately owned apartments outside campus. The University ensures that all International students, guests, staff and visiting professors and their property are safe.

We charge; $180-$280 monthly rent depending on occupancy and the length of stay

Students Community Outreach Projects

The International Relations Office encourages the international students to engage in voluntary community outreach projects. There are a number of social impact community projects you as an International staff and students can engage in.

One of such projects that the previous exchange students started, is the Acholi quarters Women self-help project located in the University’s neighborhood. It is a group of about twenty women; some are widows, single mothers, survivors of the civil war in Northern Uganda and others infected with HIV/AIDS. We support them financially through directly providing them with the basic needs of life, psychologically by showing them love and counselling to those who need it and also train them with self-sustaining entrepreneurship skills. We have so far equipped them with bead making skills (they make different beautiful products from paper beads), Soap making skills and shaggy carpet marketing skills.

The products they make are sold on the streets of Kampala and that’s how they are able to meet their personal needs .We plan to train them with even more life skills. You are welcome to join this project and put a smile on their faces.
